Product Overview

The Victron Energy Quattro 48/15000/200-100/100 277V VE.Bus is a high-power inverter/charger engineered for demanding 48V battery systems in commercial, industrial, off-grid and backup-power installations. Combining a powerful pure sine wave inverter, a 200A battery charger and an integrated automatic transfer switch, it provides comprehensive power conversion and management in one unit.

With a 15,000VA inverter capacity and two independent AC inputs, the Quattro can manage different external power sources, such as a utility supply and a generator. It automatically selects an available source according to the configured operating priorities and switches to battery-powered inverter operation when external AC power is unavailable.

This model delivers 277V AC output and is intended for compatible electrical installations, including systems that use 277/480V three-phase power when multiple units are configured appropriately.

High-Capacity Pure Sine Wave Inverter

The integrated inverter converts 48V DC battery power into 277V AC electricity with a pure sine wave output. It is designed for compatible electrical equipment and installations requiring high power capacity.

The inverter is rated at 15,000VA, with continuous active power output of 12,000W at 25°C. Continuous output is approximately 10,000W at 40°C and 7,000W at 65°C. Peak power is rated at 25,000W for short-duration demands.

The 48V DC input supports battery systems designed to provide substantial current for high-power inverter operation. Battery capacity, discharge capability, cabling, protection and ventilation must all be selected to suit the installation and its expected loads.

Dual AC Inputs and Automatic Transfer Switching

The Quattro incorporates two independent AC inputs, allowing it to connect to two external power sources. This is useful in installations where a primary supply and a backup generator are both available.

The integrated transfer switch automatically selects the appropriate available input according to the configured priorities and operating conditions. When external AC power is available, the unit can pass that supply through to connected loads and charge the battery bank. If the incoming source fails, the inverter can take over to help maintain power to supported equipment.

Each AC input supports a maximum feed-through current of 100A. Both incoming supplies must be correctly designed, protected and configured for the intended electrical system.

Integrated 200A Battery Charger

The built-in adaptive battery charger provides a maximum charging current of 200A under the specified operating conditions. This high charging capacity supports large 48V battery banks in systems where substantial battery replenishment is required.

When an appropriate external AC source is available, the Quattro can supply connected loads while charging the battery bank. Victron's charging technology manages the charging process according to the configured battery profile.

The charger must be configured to match the battery chemistry, voltage limits and charging recommendations specified by the battery manufacturer. Compatible battery management equipment should be used wherever required by the battery system.

PowerControl and PowerAssist

PowerControl allows the maximum current drawn from an external AC source to be configured, helping prevent a generator or incoming supply from being overloaded.

PowerAssist can supplement the available external AC supply with battery power when demand temporarily exceeds the configured input-current limit. This provides additional flexibility for systems with variable loads or limited generator capacity.

Together, these functions help optimise the use of available power and support stable operation in demanding installations.

Auxiliary AC Output

The Quattro includes an auxiliary AC output rated up to 50A. This output is designed for selected loads that should operate only when external AC power is available, switching off when the unit is operating in inverter mode.

This can help prioritise battery power for essential loads when the installation is running from stored energy. The auxiliary output must be correctly configured and installed according to the manufacturer's instructions.

VE.Bus Communication and System Integration

The VE.Bus communication interface supports system configuration, monitoring and integration with compatible Victron equipment. Multiple compatible units can be configured for parallel operation or suitable three-phase arrangements, depending on the intended system design.

When configured in groups of three, compatible units can form a 277/480V three-phase system. Additional compatible monitoring and control equipment can provide visibility of system operation and support remote monitoring.

These configurations require suitable system design, compatible equipment, correct electrical protection and professional commissioning.

Applications

The Victron Energy Quattro 48/15000/200-100/100 277V is designed for demanding power installations, including commercial and industrial energy systems, large off-grid installations, backup-power infrastructure, remote facilities and compatible hybrid solar-and-generator systems.

Its high inverter capacity, 200A battery charger and dual 100A AC inputs make it suitable for applications that require substantial power conversion and flexible management of external AC sources.

The 277V output is intended for compatible electrical systems. It is not a direct replacement for standard 230V Victron inverter/chargers commonly used in UK and European installations.

Installation and Compatibility

The Quattro must be installed in accordance with Victron's technical documentation and all applicable electrical regulations. Confirm that the battery bank is suitable for a 48V system and can supply the current required by the inverter under expected operating conditions.

Installation must include correctly rated DC cabling, suitable battery-side overcurrent protection, appropriate AC circuit protection, proper earthing and adequate ventilation. Both incoming AC sources must be wired and protected correctly, and all connected loads must remain within the unit's ratings.

For three-phase systems, the voltage, phase arrangement, protection and connected equipment must be compatible with the configured installation. Battery charging settings must match the battery manufacturer's specifications.

Due to its high power capacity and 277V output, professional electrical design, installation and commissioning are strongly recommended. Confirm voltage compatibility and local electrical requirements before purchasing.
