Product Overview
The Victron Energy Quattro 24/5000/120-100/100 120V VE.Bus is a high-capacity inverter/charger designed for demanding marine, commercial, mobile and off-grid power installations. Combining a pure sine wave inverter, a powerful 120A battery charger and an integrated dual-input transfer switch, it provides reliable AC power and intelligent battery management in one unit.
Designed for 24V battery systems, the Quattro delivers 5,000VA of inverter capacity and 120V AC output at 60Hz. Its two independent AC inputs allow connection to different power sources, such as shore power and a generator, with automatic switching between them. This makes it particularly useful for installations requiring dependable power from multiple sources.
Applications and Usage
The Quattro 24/5000 is suitable for larger boats, yachts, recreational vehicles, commercial installations, off-grid properties and backup power systems designed around a compatible 24V battery bank.
When external AC power is available, the unit can supply connected loads while charging the batteries. If the external supply becomes unavailable, the inverter automatically takes over, helping maintain electricity to compatible equipment with minimal interruption.
Its high charging capacity makes it suitable for installations with substantial battery storage, while the dual AC inputs provide flexibility for systems that use both a shore connection and a generator.
Pure Sine Wave Inverter Performance
The integrated inverter converts 24V DC battery power into a stable 120V AC pure sine wave output at 60Hz. This provides a suitable AC supply for many electronic devices, appliances, lighting systems and other equipment, provided their electrical requirements are within the inverter's capacity.
The inverter is rated at 5,000VA, delivering approximately 4,000W of continuous active power at 25°C under specified conditions. Continuous active power is approximately 3,700W at 40°C and 3,000W at 65°C. Its peak power capability reaches up to 10,000W for short-duration demands.
Actual performance depends on operating temperature, battery voltage, cable sizing and the starting characteristics of connected equipment.
Powerful 120A Battery Charger
The integrated battery charger provides up to 120A of charging current for a compatible 24V battery bank. Victron Energy's adaptive charging technology manages the charging process to support efficient battery replenishment.
Charging parameters can be configured to suit compatible battery systems. For a conventional 24V lead-acid installation, nominal reference settings include 28.8V absorption, 27.6V float and 26.4V storage. Actual settings must follow the battery manufacturer's specifications.
A separate 4A auxiliary charging output is also provided for maintaining a suitable starter battery, helping support installations with separate house and engine battery banks.
The available charging current depends on the external AC supply, configured settings and operating conditions.
Dual AC Inputs and Automatic Transfer Switching
The Quattro incorporates two independent AC inputs, allowing compatible installations to connect two power sources, such as shore power and a generator. The integrated transfer system automatically selects the active source according to the configured system priorities.
Each AC input has a 100A transfer path. This provides flexibility for installations with substantial AC supply requirements, subject to the ratings of the incoming sources, wiring and protective equipment.
The automatic transfer function helps maintain power to connected equipment when the active external source becomes unavailable. A separate auxiliary AC output can also be used for selected loads that should operate only when an external AC source is present, helping avoid unnecessary battery discharge.
PowerControl and PowerAssist
PowerControl helps manage current drawn from a limited AC source by allowing the input current limit to be configured. This helps prevent a generator or shore power connection from being overloaded.
PowerAssist adds flexibility by supplementing a restricted external supply with battery power through the inverter when connected loads temporarily exceed the available input capacity. This can help support short periods of increased demand without relying entirely on the external source.
These features are particularly useful in marine, commercial and off-grid installations where available generator or shore power capacity may be limited.
Technical Information
The QUA245023110 is designed for a nominal 24V DC battery system, with an operating DC input voltage range of approximately 19–33V. It provides a 120V AC output at 60Hz, with a continuous inverter rating of 5,000VA.
Continuous active output power is approximately 4,000W at 25°C, 3,700W at 40°C and 3,000W at 65°C. Peak power is rated at up to 10,000W, and maximum inverter efficiency is approximately 94%.
The integrated battery charger delivers up to 120A to the main battery bank. The unit has two AC inputs, each with a 100A transfer path, and an auxiliary AC output rated at up to 50A for suitable applications. A separate 4A auxiliary charger supports compatible starter batteries.
The AC input voltage range is approximately 90–140V AC, with an input frequency range of 45–65Hz. The unit supports VE.Bus communication for configuration, parallel operation, split-phase or three-phase system integration, remote monitoring and control with compatible equipment.
The enclosure has an IP21 protection rating. The manufacturer lists dimensions of approximately 572 × 488 × 344mm and a weight of around 34kg for this 120V 5kVA model.
System Integration and Installation
The Quattro can be integrated with compatible Victron Energy monitoring and control equipment through its VE.Bus interface. Depending on the system design, compatible equipment can provide monitoring, configuration, remote management and integration with other power components.
Multiple compatible units can be configured together for greater output capacity or suitable split-phase and three-phase systems, subject to Victron Energy's installation and configuration requirements.
Installation requires correctly sized battery cables, suitable DC overcurrent protection, appropriate AC circuit protection, secure mounting and adequate ventilation. The high DC currents involved make careful cable selection and connection essential. All wiring and protective devices must comply with applicable electrical regulations.
This model is designed for 120V AC, 60Hz systems and is not a direct replacement for a standard 230V UK or European inverter/charger. Confirm the battery voltage, AC supply arrangement, charging requirements and connected-load capacity before purchasing. Professional installation is recommended for marine, commercial and fixed electrical systems.
