Product Overview
The Victron Energy MultiPlus-II 24/3000/70-50 2x120V VE.Bus is a high-performance inverter/charger designed for demanding marine, recreational vehicle, mobile and off-grid power systems. Combining a pure sine wave inverter, an intelligent 70A battery charger and an integrated 50A automatic transfer switch, it provides a comprehensive power management solution for compatible 24V battery installations.
With a 3,000VA inverter rating, dual 120V AC output configuration and advanced power management features, the MultiPlus-II is designed to provide dependable electricity while managing incoming AC power and battery charging. Its UL-listed design makes it suitable for applicable North American-style mobile and marine electrical installations.
Applications and Usage
The MultiPlus-II 24/3000 is suitable for recreational vehicles, motorhomes, boats, yachts, mobile workspaces and off-grid installations requiring a 24V battery system and 120V AC power.
When external electricity is available from a suitable shore connection or generator, the unit can pass AC power through to connected equipment while charging the battery bank. When the external supply is interrupted, it automatically switches to inverter operation, helping maintain power to compatible appliances and electronics.
Its dual 120V configuration is particularly useful in compatible North American RV and marine installations designed around split-phase electrical distribution. The exact behaviour of the two output legs depends on the available AC input and the system configuration.
Dual 120V Output Configuration
The MultiPlus-II 2x120V is designed to work with North American-style 120/240V split-phase electrical systems. It can accept and pass through both lines of a compatible split-phase AC supply.
When operating from a single 120V AC input, the unit can distribute 120V power to both output legs. In inverter mode, the two output legs are connected together to supply 120V AC to compatible loads. A 240V AC supply is available only when the unit receives a suitable 120/240V split-phase input. It does not generate 240V AC from the battery alone.
This arrangement helps ensure that compatible 120V loads can continue operating from the battery while preventing 240V appliances from being powered by the inverter alone.
Pure Sine Wave Inverter Performance
The integrated inverter converts 24V DC battery power into a stable 120V AC pure sine wave output at 60Hz. This makes it suitable for many electronic devices, appliances, lighting systems and other AC equipment within its rated capacity.
The inverter is rated at 3,000VA, delivering approximately 2,400W of continuous active power at 25°C. Continuous output is approximately 2,200W at 40°C and 1,700W at 65°C. Peak power capability reaches up to 5,500W for short-duration demands.
Actual performance depends on ambient temperature, battery voltage, cable sizing and the starting characteristics of connected equipment.
Intelligent 70A Battery Charging
The integrated battery charger provides a maximum charging current of 70A for a compatible 24V battery bank. Victron Energy's adaptive charging technology manages the charging process to support efficient replenishment and appropriate battery care.
Configurable charging parameters allow the unit to be adapted to compatible battery systems, including suitable lead-acid and lithium installations. Battery charging voltages and settings must follow the battery manufacturer's recommendations. Lithium installations may also require a compatible battery management system.
The available charging current depends on the AC supply, system settings and operating conditions.
PowerControl and PowerAssist
PowerControl helps prevent a limited shore power connection or generator from being overloaded by allowing the maximum AC input current to be configured.
PowerAssist provides additional flexibility by supplementing a restricted external AC supply with battery power through the inverter when connected loads temporarily exceed the available input capacity. This helps support short periods of higher demand without relying entirely on the external supply.
These functions are especially useful in recreational vehicles and marine installations where shore power or generator capacity may be limited. Their operation depends on the configured system and input arrangement.
Automatic Transfer Switch and UPS Function
The integrated 50A transfer switch automatically changes between external AC power and inverter operation when the incoming supply becomes unavailable. This helps maintain power to compatible connected equipment with minimal interruption.
The transfer function is valuable in mobile and marine applications where maintaining electricity for essential equipment is important. The AC transfer rating must be considered separately from the inverter's continuous power rating when planning the installation.
Technical Information
The PMP242305132 is designed for a nominal 24V DC battery system, with an operating input voltage range of 19–33V DC. Its inverter output is 120V AC at 60Hz, with a continuous apparent power rating of 3,000VA.
Continuous active output power is approximately 2,400W at 25°C, 2,200W at 40°C and 1,700W at 65°C. Peak power is rated at up to 5,500W, and maximum inverter efficiency is approximately 94%.
The integrated battery charger provides up to 70A of charging current. The automatic transfer switch is rated at 50A, and the maximum AC input current is 50A per leg. The AC input supports single-phase 120V or compatible 120/240V split-phase supplies within the manufacturer's specified voltage limits.
The unit supports VE.Bus communication, remote on/off control and integration with compatible Victron Energy monitoring and control equipment. It has an IP22 protection rating, M8 battery connections and screw-terminal AC connections.
The enclosure measures approximately 578 × 275 × 148mm and weighs around 22kg.
System Integration and Installation
The MultiPlus-II can be integrated into a wider Victron Energy system using compatible VE.Bus equipment and supported monitoring devices. Depending on the installation, compatible GX devices and remote monitoring tools can provide system information, configuration and additional energy management functions.
Installation requires correctly sized battery cables, suitable DC overcurrent protection, appropriate AC circuit protection, secure mounting and adequate ventilation. The design must account for high battery currents, the required AC distribution arrangement and the applicable electrical regulations.
This model is intended for compatible 120V North American-style systems. It is not a direct replacement for a standard 230V UK or European inverter/charger. Before purchasing, verify the battery voltage, AC input arrangement, output requirements and compatibility with the connected loads. Professional installation is recommended for marine and vehicle electrical systems.
Product Summary
