Product Overview

The Victron Energy MultiPlus Compact 24/2000/50-50 120V VE.Bus is a versatile inverter/charger designed for marine, mobile, off-grid and backup power installations using a 24V battery system. Combining a pure sine wave inverter, an intelligent battery charger and an integrated automatic transfer switch, it provides a compact, integrated solution for reliable AC power and battery management.

With a 2,000VA inverter rating, a 50A battery charger and a 50A transfer switch, the MultiPlus Compact helps maintain a dependable supply of electricity while efficiently managing incoming AC power. Its compact design makes it suitable for installations where available space is limited, including boats, motorhomes and specialist vehicles.

Applications and Usage

The MultiPlus Compact 24/2000 is designed for systems requiring 120V AC power from a 24V battery bank. It can supply AC electricity to connected appliances and equipment when external power is unavailable, while charging the battery bank when connected to a suitable shore power or generator supply.

Typical applications include marine electrical systems, recreational vehicles, mobile workspaces, remote installations and backup power systems. Its pure sine wave output is suitable for many electronic devices and conventional AC appliances, provided their power requirements remain within the inverter's limits.

When external AC power is available, the integrated charger replenishes the main battery bank. If the incoming supply fails, the unit automatically switches to inverter operation, helping maintain power to connected equipment with minimal interruption.

PowerControl and PowerAssist

Victron Energy's PowerControl technology allows the maximum AC input current to be configured to suit the available shore connection or generator. This helps prevent the installation from demanding more current than the external supply can provide.

PowerAssist complements this function by allowing the inverter to supplement a limited AC supply with power from the battery when connected loads temporarily exceed the available input capacity. Together, these features help manage changing electrical demands and make better use of limited AC sources.

The unit also supports compatible parallel and three-phase configurations when correctly installed and configured with suitable equipment.

Adaptive Battery Charging

The integrated 50A battery charger uses Victron Energy's adaptive charging technology to manage the charging process. Its charging stages are designed to replenish the battery efficiently while helping reduce unnecessary battery wear.

The unit also provides an independent 4A trickle-charge output for maintaining a suitable starter battery, useful in installations where a separate engine or generator battery needs to remain charged.

Battery charging parameters must be configured to match the battery manufacturer's requirements. Compatibility with the chosen battery chemistry, charging voltage and system design should be confirmed before installation.

Technical Information

The CMP242200100 is designed for a nominal 24V DC battery system, with an input voltage range of approximately 19–33V DC. It provides a 120V AC, 60Hz output and has a continuous inverter rating of 2,000VA, equivalent to 1,600W at 25°C. Its peak power capability is up to 4,000W for short-duration demands.

The integrated battery charger delivers a maximum charging current of 50A to the main battery bank. The AC transfer switch is rated at 50A, enabling automatic switching between incoming AC power and inverter operation.

Maximum inverter efficiency is approximately 94%. The unit uses VE.Bus communication for configuration and integration with compatible Victron Energy equipment.

The enclosure measures approximately 520 × 255 × 125mm and weighs around 13kg. Its compact format allows it to be incorporated into installations where mounting space and weight are important considerations.

System Integration and Installation

The MultiPlus Compact can be configured using the unit's supported settings and compatible VE.Bus configuration equipment. Depending on the wider installation, compatible Victron monitoring and control devices can provide additional system visibility and management.

Correct installation requires suitable battery cabling, fuses or circuit breakers, AC protection, ventilation and secure mounting. Cable sizes and protective devices must be selected according to the installation's current requirements and applicable electrical regulations.

This model is intended for 120V AC, 60Hz systems and is not a direct replacement for a 230V UK or European inverter/charger. Before purchasing, confirm that the 24V battery system, AC voltage, frequency, charging requirements and connected loads are compatible.

Professional installation is recommended for marine, vehicle and fixed electrical systems.

Product Summary

The Victron Energy MultiPlus Compact 24/2000/50-50 120V VE.Bus is a compact, integrated inverter and charger for 24V battery installations requiring dependable 120V AC power. Its 2,000VA pure sine wave inverter, 50A battery charger, automatic 50A transfer switch, PowerControl and PowerAssist functions make it a flexible solution for marine, mobile, off-grid and backup power applications.
